Sonic 2 (DVD) Review

The world’s favorite blue hedgehog returns in the sequel to the blockbuster hit “Sonic the Hedgehog.” Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) is back, seeking revenge with his new partner Knuckles the Echidna and scheming to find the powerful Master Emerald.

Sonic, with a new ally in Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), embarks on a journey to stop him. But Sonic’s family dynamic is also put under scrutiny.

Dr. Robotnik

Initially, Robotnik was awestruck by Sonic’s intelligence and defiant behavior. As he became more familiar with the hedgehog’s abilities, however, his resentment of the boy grew along with his ego.

In addition to his own robotic creations, Robotnik also created several Badniks who he uses as pawns in his quest to conquer the world. These include Breezie, a beautiful hedgehog-type Badnik who was originally created in a plot to get rid of Sonic; Robotnik Jr., a robot who was originally created as an egg-like Badnik; and Agent Stone, a robot that is created in a similar fashion to Scratch and Grounder. Whether you’re an old-school Sonic fan or you’re just curious about the game, you’re sure to enjoy 123 Movies Sonic 2.

He is a self-proclaimed genius with an extremely high IQ of 300 and possesses an arrogant personality that seems to be based on science and computational thinking. He has a large, yet fragile ego, and is very quick to get angry when things don’t go his way. He is also very creative and extravagant in his scientific gadgets, interior designing and contraptions.

Knuckles the Echidna

Knuckles the Echidna is the musclebound red echidna who serves as Sonic’s best friend and former rival. He is also one of the last living members of his tribe, the Knuckles Clan.

He is one of the most powerful characters in the series, and is able to transform into various super-powered states. He can transform into Super Knuckles or Hyper Knuckles, depending on the Chaos Emerald he’s carrying.

His signature ability is gliding, as he has long dreadlocks that trap air under him, allowing him to glide far distances.

In the game he also has the power to use the Earth on multiple occasions, and can call down meteors to deal with sticky situations. He also has an impressive amount of mystical powers and can be very useful in combat, and is a skilled martial artist who can do battle with anyone, including Sonic.

In the film, Knuckles is a reluctant partner in Robotnik’s quest for the Master Emerald, though he becomes more determined to fight for his friends and family when Sonic is taken away by caretaker Longclaw. He also reveals his distaste for Owls, which was established in the first movie, and sets off on a revenge fueled quest to find and destroy him.

Tom and Maddie Wachowski

Tom and Maddie Wachowski (James Marsden, Tika Sumpter) are married in Sonic 2. Throughout the movie, they are shown to have a very trusting relationship. They are also shown to be very supportive of each other’s goals and dreams, including assisting Tom in his pursuit of becoming a police officer in San Francisco.

In addition, they are shown to be extremely affectionate towards each other and enjoy spending cozy movie nights together. They have a strong sense of humor and rarely display any strife between them.

They are shown to have an immense love and compassion for both wild animals and domesticated ones alike. They are especially fond of Ozzie, a yellow fox that they adopted from the Green Hills Wildlife Shelter.

However, their loving relationship can be somewhat problematic at times. For example, when wild raccoons invade their home, Tom can be a bit overzealous and shoot them with his tranquilizer dart gun. This can get annoying to Maddie, who would scold him not to do so.

The Master Emerald

The Master Emerald is a powerful gem that has been guarded by Knuckles the Echidna throughout most of the Sonic games. It is an incredibly powerful piece of jewelry that allows its wielder to neutralize the power of the Chaos Emeralds.

During Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic and Knuckles take a trip to Angel Island to get it back. However, they are attacked by Neo Metal Sonic who uses the Master Emerald to transform into Super Neo Metal Sonic, putting up a fierce battle for the two heroes.

After defeating this evil robot, Sonic and Knuckles return the Master Emerald to Angel Island and regain its power, saving Angel Island from the wrath of the Chaos Emeralds.

The Master Emerald has been a key part of many of the plots in Sonic the Hedgehog, and he’s also made a small appearance in other titles, such as 2001’s Sonic Adventure 2. In that game, Knuckles battles an accomplished jewel thief named Rouge the Bat for the pieces of the Emerald after Eggman accidentally breaks it.
