Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival and it falls on a different date each year according to the Western Gregorian calendar. The current Chinese New Year (年度初) falls on February 19th this year 2018. In contrast, Lunar New Year is always on January 25th every year due to its proximity to the winter solstice.

Apart from their respective dates, another major difference between the Chinese New Year and Lunar New Year is their focus. While Chinese New Year celebrations mainly involve family reunions and giving thanks for blessings received during the past year, Lunar New Year focuses more on honoring the ancestors and celebrating new beginnings.

Lunar New Year 2023

The Chinese and Japanese new year celebrations are two of the most widely celebrated and observed holidays in the world. The main difference between these two celebrations is the date of their respective new years. The Chinese new year is usually celebrated on the first day of the first month in the traditional lunar calendar while the Japanese new year is celebrated on January 1st of a solar calendar.

Both celebrations involve a lot of traditions and festivities, but there are some key differences as well. For example, in China, people make Qing Ming lunches to celebrate the coming of spring while in Japan people eat omiyage (souvenirs) to commemorate happy occasions past. Another important difference is that in China many families will travel to relatives or friends for New Year’s Eve dinner, while in Japan it’s more common for people to stay at home and watch fireworks displays from their gardens or residences. Despite these minor differences, both celebrations are highly enjoyable and reflect different cultural values and traditions from each respective country.

Chinese New Year Celebration

Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China and around the world. It is celebrated on the first day of the lunar calendar, which falls on February or March every year. In mainland China, people celebrate by cooking delicious dinners and exchanging gifts with family and friends. Special rituals are also performed during this time, such as giving money in lieu of gifts to ancestors and cleaning houses from top to bottom.

Lunar New Year is a lesser-known holiday that is celebrated mainly in Southeast Asia. It is based on the Chinese zodiac and features celebrations such as eating special foods, sending blessings to family and friends, and honoring the gods and ancestors who have helped you throughout the past year.

Who Celebrates Lunar New Year

The two main Chinese new years are lunar new year and the national new year. Lunar new year is the more important of the two, as it is a time for reflection on past experiences and preparing for the future. It is also a time for family reunions and celebrations. National new year, on the other hand, is a time to celebrate the country’s achievements and commemorate its past.

Happy Lunar New Year

The Chinese and Japanese calendar systems are two of the most popular calendars in the world. These calendars have different names, but they share many similarities. The biggest difference between the Chinese and Japanese new Year is that the Chinese new year is based on the lunar cycle, while the Japanese new year is based on the solar calendar.

Both holidays have unique traditions and celebrations. The main difference between these holidays is that the Chinese new year celebrates the coming of a new year while Lunar New Year celebrates all things related to the moon, such as fortune-telling, eating special foods, and visiting family and friends.

Lunar New Year is traditionally considered to be a time for rebirth and renewal. Families spend time together exchanging gifts and celebrating together. Many people also make resolutions for the new year.
